AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -  A bizarre series of attacks has Auburn Police scratching their heads.

A lone suspect is approaching women, coming from what seems like out of nowhere, grabbing them from behind, and then just as quickly he's gone.

"He fled on foot, I think in one of these cases he fled back towards Magnolia Avenue, which I believe was the direction he had come from." Said Auburn Police Captain Tom Stofer.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5-8, with a stocky build and sandy colored hair.

As for the motive? No one knows. The suspect does not even make sound when approaching his victims. Stofer says, "There's been no weapons displayed that I'm aware of, nothing said, no threats made, he's just grabbing these women from behind and running."

Reports show two women attacked Tuesday night and one last week.

Police are investigating to see if last week's incident is connected with the attacks from last night. Police ask that all women walking at night take extra precaution.
