MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A federal judge in Mobile has sentenced a gun shop operator to more than four years in prison.

Larry McCoy of Bay Minette, who was sentenced on Wednesday, was convicted of a variety of firearms violations in March.

The 60-year-old McCoy operated Larry's Sporting Goods & Gun Shop until federal agents raided the store last August.

During the trial, undercover agents and informants testified that McCoy allowed purchasers with clean criminal histories to stand in for people who were ineligible under federal law to have guns.

The jury acquitted McCoy's wife, Lynda McCoy, of similar charges.
