MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A federal grand jury has indicted a 24-year-old Mobile man on charges of spray-painting neo-Nazi graffiti on a Messianic Jewish house of worship.

Thomas Hayward Lewis, who was indicted Thursday, is accused of conspiracy and violating the civil rights of congregants of the Tree of Life Messianic Synagogue in west Mobile on Jan. 3, 2009. The indictment also charges him with possession of an unregistered firearm.

Lewis' co-defendant, Christian Rodney Ice, pleaded guilty in March to damaging religious property and agreed to assist law enforcement authorities.
