Man suffers burns climbing fence at power station

TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) - A man who was burned when he climbed a fence to get into an Alabama Power substation in Talladega is in critical condition at UAB Hospital.

The Talladega Daily Home reported that Willie Eugene Lewis sustained the injuries early Friday morning when he suffered burns over 90% of his body.

He suffered the injuries when some 44,000 volts of electricity passed through his body and burned the clothes off his back. The Daily Home reported that the man walked to a local hospital and was transferred to UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
