ASU professor wins prestigious award

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - An Alabama State University professor is the recipient of a prestigious award.

Dr. Carly Johnson, assistant professor of upper brass, won first place in the three trumpet division at the 2010 Susan B. Slaughter International Brass Solo Competition recently. 

Johnson performed Triptych, written by Henri Tomasi, as her award-winning piece. 

Johnson performs with the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra and Alabama Shakespeare Festival. 

The 2010 Susan B. Slaughter International Brass Solo Competition is sponsored by the International Women's Brass Conference in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
