Andalusia, AL (WSFA) - In just one year, 10 year old Gordie Cartwright has made quite a name for himself. He joined 4-H last year, and got into some cooking contests. He recently came back from Tennessee at the Corn Bread King! He won a national competition for his Sweet Potato Cornbread. You can watch this little chef at work by clicking on the video link. Sweet Potato Cornbread:
- 1 package (7 ounce) Martha White Sweet Yellow Cornbread Mix
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup mashed, cooked in microwave, sweet potatoes
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- pinch nutmeg
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Mix all ingredients. Pour in greased lodge cast iron skillet. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
