AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Auburn's football team is once again winning the numbers game.
The Tigers have 29 of the 32 players signed earlier this year on campus already preparing for the start of fall practice in August, and junior college transfer Joel Bonomolo is just waiting on approval from the NCAA Clearinghouse.
Coach Gene Chizik had just 74 scholarship players last season, but expects to have 84 or 85 - the NCAA maximum - for Year 2.
Chizik says that summer presence is "huge for us with our numbers situation."
The only two expected to be absent are offensive lineman Shon Coleman, who has been battling cancer, and Springville receiver Jeremy Richardson. Richardson is already enrolled at a junior college.
