Albertville residents celebrate the city's 150th birthday.

ALBERTVILLE, AL (WAFF) - People in one valley city celebrated a very special event Saturday afternoon.

Hundreds came out to downtown Albertville to celebrate not only the fourth of July, but the city's birthday. Today marked the 150th birthday for Albertville.

The event started Thursday night with a free movie and today there were arts and crafts centers, vendors and even a concert by American Idol finalist, Bucky Covington.

The tornado that ravaged much of the downtown area had some people fearing the event would be a no-go.

"We had several people say once the tornado came through that we should re-consider and cancel the festival and we bounced back and repaired everything that needed to be repaired," said Melody Whitten, Albertville's Mayor Executive Assistant.

Also, Republican candidate Bradley Byrne and his family made a stop in Albertville Saturday afternoon to help celebrate the city's birthday .
