AUBURN, AL (WSFA) – The city of Auburn is announcing a new police chief effective immediately.
Tommy Dawson was named to the position effective July 7, 2010.
Dawson graduated from Faulkner University with a degree in Criminology. He joined the Auburn Police Department as a patrol officer in 1987.
Over his time with the ADP, Dawson has been a narcotics division sergeant, patrol lieutenant, detective lieutenant and most recently the assistant chief.
"Chief Dawson's 23 years of service has equipped him to serve with distinction as Chief of Police for the City of Auburn. I am confident that he will protect and serve Auburn citizens with an unwavering sense of duty and commitment," Charles M. Duggan Jr. said.
