Greenville set to host ASA Girls' softball tournament this weekend

The Greenville Softball Complex will be a busy place this weekend as it plays host to the Alabama Amateur Softball Association's Fast Pitch Girls' Softball State Tournament.

There will be two separate tournaments starting at 6 p.m. Friday. Eight teams will vie for the championship in the 10-years-old and under divison, and five teams will battle it out in the 12-and-under division.

The two-day tournament is set to conclude with championship games at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Results will be updated at: You can also visit there for more information on the tournament.

It's meant a bunch of extra work for his staff, said Parks and Recreation director Jerome Harris, but they're using this tournament to prepare for another big event they're hosting -- the Dixie Youth Baseball Championships that starts on July 23.

There will be a dozen teams in that tournament, he said.
