HOKES BLUFF, Ala. (AP) - Police in Hokes Bluff say two teenagers are charged after a lighted firecracker was thrown into a church during evening services on the Fourth of July.
Police Chief Mitchell Hill said the 16-year-old and 18-year-old are charged with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct after the firecracker was thrown inside New Bethel Church on Etowah County Road 71.
Officers say the two sped away in a truck, and a church member followed them down several roads before they were arrested.
Hill says the 16-year-old was taken to Coosa Valley Detention Center in Anniston and the 18-year-old was taken to the Etowah County Detention Center. He says the teens have no known connection with the church.
