LUVERNE, AL (WSFA) - Thirty-two hours after escaping from the Crenshaw County Jail, an escapee is behind bars once again. Christopher Poole, 39, was recaptured at 12:30 Wednesday morning.

The escapee never made it out of Crenshaw County. A tip from an alert citizen led authorities to a wooded area near Quail Tire Road where Poole was quickly located.

Luverne police officers, K-9 units and members of the Alabama Department of Corrections assisted the sheriff's department in the recapture. There were no injuries, and the arrest was made without incident.

Poole told jail officials Monday afternoon that he didn't feel well. Around 4:30pm, while waiting to see a nurse, Poole slipped out a door and disappeared.

Poole, whom court records indicate has a history of escaping jail, will now face additional escape charges.
