RUSSELLVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Franklin County deputies caught 34-year-old Jerry Odell Kelley who escaped from the Franklin County Jail Thursday morning.
Officers received a tip that Kelley, who is a survival expert, could be at Spring Park in Tuscumbia.
Officers from the Tuscumbia Police Department, Colbert County Sheriff's Department, and Franklin County Sheriff's Department worked together to apprehend Kelley after he was spotted near the main pavilion.
Officers caught Kelley after a short foot chase, and was taken back to the Franklin County Jail where he was charged with first degree escape.
He was previously charged with attempted rape first degree, enticing a child for immoral purposes, sodomy first degree, sexual abuse first degree and failure to register as a sex offender.
His prior conviction was in Michigan for criminal sexual conduct with a 13-year-old girl.
Court records show Kelley's Alabama trial is scheduled for August 9.
