MPD: suspect who escaped custody surrenders

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A man authorities say escaped from police custody on Sunday turned himself in a little after midnight Monday, Montgomery Police said.

Investigators arrested and handcuffed 29-year old Demarcus Jernell Linen around 9:00 am Sunday morning near Amos Street and Fairground Road when he fled.

Police spent the day searching the surrounding neighborhoods.

He faces an escape charge as well as Theft of Property 3rd Degree because police say he stole the handcuffs.
