Lowndes County, Ala. (WSFA) - U.S. 31 was blocked for several hours Tuesday morning after an 18-wheeler and a car collided near the Montgomery county/Lowndes county line.
The 18-wheeler swerved to miss a tree down in the road, lost control, hit another vehicle and overturned, authorities say.
The driver of the car was hurt but is expected to be all right, said police.
The road stayed blocked from about 3 a.m. until about 7:45 a.m. while responders cleaned up the wreckage.
The volunteer fire department from Sandy Ridge finished cleanup, said spokesman Sgt. Steve Jarrett.
