1 dead, 1 charged after chicken dispute

DOGTOWN, Ala. (AP) - A DeKalb County man is dead and another man is charged after what authorities believe was a dispute over stolen chickens turned fatal.

Authorities have charged 62-year-old Wayne Thomas McMinn with murder. It comes after authorities found the body of Rickey R. McCallie at about 8 p.m. Monday in the backyard of a home on County Road 188.

Authorities say McMinn and McCallie had an "ongoing dispute" over stolen chickens.

McCallie's body has been taken to the Department of Forensic Sciences in Huntsville for an autopsy. A preliminary investigation shows he was shot multiple times.

McMinn is being held without bond in the DeKalb County Detention Center.
