Dothan ROTC cadet killed by lightning strike

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - An 18-year old ROTC cadet from Dothan has died in Louisville after being struck by lightning at Fort Knox.

Carmela Kirkland died from complications due to the lighting strike around 4:50PM at University Hospital in Louisville.

She was struck by lightning Tuesday afternoon while doing field exercises with fellow cadets at Fort Knox.
