AUBURN, AL (WSFA) - Investigators are looking into the death of an infant would died at the Auburn University Hotel and Conference Center over the weekend.
Auburn Police, Fire Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to hotel around 8:20 a.m. Saturday in reference to an unresponsive baby at that location.
Officers were escorted to the body of a two month old male infant who displayed no signs of life. The infant had been sleeping in a bed with a parent when the discovery was made by the parents.
Lee County Deputy Coroner Gene Manning arrived on the scene and pronounced the infant dead at 9:30 a.m.
The infant's body was transported to East Alabama Medical Center where an autopsy is planned. The cause of death is unknown at this time but foul play is not suspected. The family is from Mississippi and was in town to attend a function.
The case is under investigation by the Auburn Police Division, Lee County Coroner's Office, and the State Medical Examiner's Office.
