DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - A Dothan City Commissioner was booked into the Houston County Jail on harassment charges Saturday. District One Commissioner James Reading turned himself in to authorities after learning of the charges.

Charges were filed against Reading by his council predecessor in District One, Larry Matthews. Matthews said Reading grabbed and threatened him at the Dothan's National Night Out event last week.

The two men have been back and forth before, though it's been in a professional capacity. They've both beaten each other for the same seat in different election cycles.

Reading beat incumbent Matthews last year. Before that, in 2005, Matthews was the victor over incumbent Reading for the exact same seat.
