CLANTON, AL (WBRC) - Authorities in Chilton County are up to their knees in marijuana after finding more that 3,600 plants.
A trailer was brought in to haul the illegal drug away. seized $500,000 worth of marijuana plants Wednesday.
The Chilton County Sheriff's Department said its Marijuana Eradication Task Force seized the plants Wednesday during a raid in southern Chilton County, about 3.5 miles off of County Road 528.
Deputies had to use a helicopter and a net to gather the plants because it was too deep in the forest to reach it by vehicle.
Investigators said the owner of the property had no idea the plants were on the land, and no one has been arrested.
Deputies say they plan to bury the plants in an effort to destroy them.
