BESSEMER, Ala. (AP) - The campaign manager of a candidate for mayor of Bessemer says he is responsible for the faked photo with Alabama coach Nick Saban used on campaign fliers and the untruthful claim that Saban endorsed her candidacy.
Kevin Morris tells The Birmingham News that he tricked Dorothy Davidson into thinking she had Saban's endorsement in the race for mayor of Bessemer and that it would be OK to alter the photo.
Davidson didn't return phone calls from The Associated Press seeking comment.
Morris said he stepped down as Davidson's campaign manager Wednesday.
The campaign manager came forward after the candidate admitted the photo had been altered and the university said there had been no endorsement by Saban.
