Dothan, Ala. man convicted in 2005 killing

DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - A 22-year-old man has been convicted of murder by a jury in a fatal shooting in Dothan on Christmas Eve, 2005.

After nearly two hours of deliberation, the jury found Vincent Trawick guilty on Wednesday. Police charged him with shooting Zachary Severson to death.

District Attorney Doug Valeska says he plans to ask the court for a 99-year prison sentence.

Valeska describes the slaying as an execution murder. He says the victim suffered at least 18 wounds about his body from the gunfire, including several to his back.

Attorney Aaron Gartlan, who represented Trawick, said during the trial that the prosecution had no physical evidence linking his client to the killing.
