$20 million verdict against former ABC agent

WETUMPKA, AL (WSFA) - A former Alcoholic Beverage Control Agent who is serving time in prison learned Monday he owes his young victim $20 million.

Anthony Isbell, 49, pleaded guilty to criminal charges in 2008 for sexually abusing a then 10-year-old girl.

After the trial the girl's father filed a civil case against Isbell on the grounds that Isbell violated her 4th Amendment rights. According to the victim's attorney, Jay Lewis, Isbell filed papers in the case, but never answered the complaint.

The jury returned the verdict Monday in favor of the victim and her family. The default judgement was made against Isbell, who did not show up for the court appearance because he's in prison until 2018.

Isbell is now registered as a sex offender and will not be allowed to be near children once he is released from prison.
