Ala. woman dies after her apartment catches fire

ATHENS, Ala. (AP) - A woman is dead after her Athens apartment caught fire.

Authorities say 52-year-old Vickie Strasser died at Athens-Limestone Hospital after the Friday night blaze. Authorities have not yet released the cause of death.

Authorities say Strasser was pulled from her apartment after getting a 10:30 p.m. call about the fire. The apartment had limited fire and smoke damage and no other units in the complex were affected.

Fire officials are investigating the incident. No other injuries were reported.

    The Mississippi Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who ran away from the scene of a deadly crash in George County. Three children were killed in the crash. Troopers said a green 2003 Kia Optima was heading east on Highway 198, east of Depot Road, shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday.
