Tide holds final practice before Penn State game

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. The Alabama football team held a two-hour practice in shells (shorts, shoulder pads and helmets) Thursday afternoon at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility.

"Good preparation is how you have a chance to beat teams like this," head coach Nick Saban said. "They're going to execute. They're going to do what they do and they are going to do it well. They're going to play with effort and play with toughness and they're not going to beat themselves, so that's the kind of game that we have to get ready to play."

Saban moved the final two practices of the week indoors for the second straight week to give his team a break from the heat, and allow the players to focus more on preparations for Penn State. The strategy appeared to be a good one last week as the Crimson Tide looked sharp in their 48-3 season-opening win over San Jose State.

The Crimson Tide will hold a walk-through Friday in their final preparation for Saturday's showdown with Penn State. Kick off for Saturday's game is set for 6:06 p.m. on ESPN with Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit calling the action from the booth and Erin Andrews reporting from the sidelines. ESPN's College GameDay will air live from the North End Zone Plaza at Bryant-Denny Stadium (directly in front of University Blvd.) Saturday beginning at 8 a.m.
