Well known Montgomery judge and civil rights leader passes away

Montgomery, AL (WSFA) - The state is mourning the loss of a civil rights leader and judge. Judge Charles Conley has passed away.

The Montgomery native graduated from Alabama State University. Judge Conley was Alabama's first black circuit court judge. He also served as attorney of record for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Montgomery Improvement Association and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. He was 89-years-old.
