MAXWELL AFB, Ala. – Members of the 908th Airlift Wing started arriving back in Montgomery Friday night from Southwest Asia.
The group of approximately 150, consisting of aircrew and maintenance personnel, left for the region in May. The Reservists provided airlift in support of United States Central Command for Operation Iraqi Freedom, recently renamed New Dawn.
Friday night the first group of about 100 people landed in Montgomery. On Saturday four planes and about 50 more people are scheduled to arrive at about half-hour intervals between 12:30 and 2 p.m.
While deployed the 908th's aircraft and crews transported people and cargo as needed to assist in Operation Iraqi Freedom/New Dawn.They also flew missions to aid flood relief efforts in Pakistan
The 908th was activated previously in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom from November of 2003 to November of 2005 and again in March to April of 2008.
