MONTGOMERY—Andrew Lyons, place kicker for Alabama State University, has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Special Teams Player of the Week.
Lyons, a junior from Panama City, Fla., hit a game-winning 47-yard field goal with 23 seconds left to give ASU an 18-15 win at Prairie View A&M over the weekend. Lyons also connected on his only extra-point attempt.
The 47-yard field goal was Lyons career-long and was his fourth field goal of the season. He leads the team in points with 20 as he has also hit all eight of his extra point attempts.
Lyons and Stephen Stansell from Austin Peay State University shared the same award from the College Football Performance Football Championship Series (FCS) awards.
