ASU men's golf takes second in national tournament

ATLANTA, GA.—The Alabama State University men's golf team finished second at the National Black College Invitational Golf Tournament hosted by the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame, Inc.

The Browns Mill Golf Course hosted the event and is an 18-hole, par 72, which measures 6,500 yards.  The invitational hosted several of the top HBCU golf programs from both NCAA Division I and Division II institutions.

The Hornets shot a 292 to finish second to Tennessee State University.  ASU finished ahead of Southwestern Athletic Conference foe Jackson State University, which finished fourth.

Sam Strachan was the Hornets top performer with a three-under 69.  He finished second in the tournament.  Teammate John Montgomery finished one stroke behind him in third place with a two-under 70.

The Hornets will be back on the links on Oct. 3-5 for the Louisiana SWAC Open that will be held in Alexandria, La.
