OPELIKA, AL (WSFA) - The Lee County Sheriff's Office arrested five Opelika residents Thursday in a copper theft case.

David Charles Luck Jr.,54, Jessica Renee Rogers,23, Christopher Dewayne Brewer,34, Jonathan Gleen Denton,20 and Cody Cheyenne Adams,24 are all charged with one count of Theft of Property in the Third Degree and one count of Criminal Trespassing in the Second Degree.

The charges stem from a complaint received by the Sheriff's Office from a business located in the 3000 block of Highway 169 in Opelika. The caller said there were several unknown individuals on their property stealing scrap metal.

Deputies arrived on the scene and arrested all five individuals, who were all being detained by the business employees. The victims estimated the value of the property taken at approximately $100.00 but stated that similar type thefts had occurred from their business.

This case is still under investigation and additional arrest may occur, authorities said.
