Lowndes Academy Teacher a Class Act

LOWNDES COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - The kids may be small in Ms. Michele Rogers first grade class at Lowndes Academy, but reading is a big deal.  "I love to read out loud to them," Rogers said.  "I want them to be able to read to themselves and eventually read out loud too.   Reading is so important in every subject in school."

Ms. Rogers has  spent her entire 22-year teaching career at Lowndes Academy.   "When I was in college I liked working with children.   That's what I wanted to do so I changed my major to education."

Since then she's never looked back.   Ms. Rogers hopes her positive attitude stays with these first graders for years to come.  "I tell them they can do whatever they want to do.   It's right here in front of them, all they have to do is try."    And who knows, maybe some of her little students will follow her lead, and grow up to be teachers too.   Congratulations Ms. Michele Rogers, you're this weeks Class Act.
