Dick Armey Doesn't Support Riley Tax Plan

Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey says he loves Governor Riley like a brother after serving with him in Congress. But Armey says Riley's tax plan will be bad for the state's economy and he's planning a trip to Alabama to oppose it.

Armey is now co-chairman of Citizens for a Sound Economy, a conservative, grass-roots lobbying group that advocates lower taxes and less government. A spokesman for the governor says Armey doesn't understand the issues faced by Alabama, including budgets built on one-time revenue and court orders to provide more space for prisoners. Armey says a date for his trip to Alabama will be set later.
