Four hurt in Lowndes County school bus accident

MOSSES, AL (WSFA) - Four people were taken to hospital after an accident involving a school bus and a car on County Road 2 in Lowndes County Wednesday morning.

The accident happened around 7:00am between Hayneville and Mosses.

25 students were onboard the bus when it collided with a 2006 Ford Taurus driven by 20-year-old Alisa Robinson. Robinson and the driver of the bus, 52-year-old Charlise Joshua, were taken to Baptist South Medical Center.

Two students, unidentified, were also taken to Baptist South.

The students had non life-threatening injuries to the back and joints.  They were also suffering from pain, according to officials.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

The Lowndes County Schools Superintendent told WSFA 12 News, he believed the driver did exactly what she was trained to do and avoided more serious injuries to the children.
