Trojan volleyball team set to face Alabama A&M

TROY, AL. - The Troy University volleyball team heads north to Normal, Alabama Wednesday night to face the Bulldogs of Alabama A&M at 6 p.m., in the final non-conference match of the season for the Trojans. 

"We are looking forward to getting back on the floor," head coach Sonny Kirkpatrick said.  "We had a successful last week and hopefully we can carry that success into this weekend."

The Trojans have won five of their last eight matches heading into Wednesday night, including splitting their first four Sun Belt Conference matches.  The match with Alabama A&M will mark the 12th meeting between the two schools and Troy holds a 10-1 record all-time.  The Trojans are a perfect 3-0 on the road against Alabama A&M in the series.

Troy is led on the season by senior Megan Henderson, junior Natasha Kolunija and sophomore Devin Von Pingel

Henderson has recorded 652 assists, averaging 9.59 assists/set, 16 service aces, 178 digs, and has a .396 attack percentage.  Meanwhile, Kolunija has recorded 181 kills, 47 digs, 46 total blocks, and had a .297 attack percentage. 

Von Pingel continues to shine as one of Troy's outside hitters.  She has recorded 175 kills, averaging 2.50 kills/set, 21 digs, 44 total blocks, and has a .259 attack percentage.

After facing the Bulldogs, Troy will return home to Sartain Hall this weekend to face preseason Sun Belt Conference favorites Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky.
