WETUMPKA, AL (WSFA) - "Cupid" the kitty cat - as he's now called - is lucky to be alive after officials found him shot completely through with an arrow. The tip of the arrow was barely sticking out of the animal's back, but the more than foot long projectile, completely intact, was still hanging from the conscious cat's stomach.

The Humane Society of Elmore Count took in the feline and posted a photo of it on the organization's Facebook page, with arrow still securely lodged in place.

"Miracle of miracles, he only has some trauma to his sternum," the post read. The lungs and other organs were not damaged when the arrow pierced the cat's body.

Further investigation showed the cat also had at least one BB stuck inside its body. "Given an arrow AND a BB - this is no accident!" the Facebook post went on to say.

The arrow was removed and officials at HSEC say Cupid is now eating and drinking like normal. The animal is being kept at a local veterinarian's office until it recovers.

It wasn't immediately known who shot the cat, but the case has been handed over to the Elmore County Sheriff's Department for investigation.
