MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A state audit of the Selma Municipal Court says nearly $30,000 appears to be missing.
The state Examiners of Public Accounts released the audit Friday and said they will send the findings to the state attorney general.
The audit covering Oct. 1, 2008, through June 30, 2009, says $29,734 was received, but there are no records to show it was deposited in the bank. The audit cited inadequate record keeping, including not being able to determine if all parking tickets and parking fines collected were accounted for properly.
Selma Mayor George Evans did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment on the audit.
