Former Bama player Glen Coffee arrested on firearms charge

FORT WALTON BEACH, FL (WBRC) – Former Crimson Tide player Glen Coffee was arrested Friday on a firearms charge.

According to the police report filed at the Fort Walton Beach Police Department, the 23-year-old Coffee was pulled over for speeding in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., when police noticed his vehicle had no registration nor insurance. A search of the vehicle found Coffee to be in possession of an automatic pistol with the hammer cocked.

Coffee had made headlines earlier this year when he announced his retirement from football after one season playing for the San Francisco 49ers. He says he felt led by God to "walk away from the game."
