Neighbors to picket woman's Confederate flag in South Carolina

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A white South Carolina woman says the Confederate flag flying over her home is an important reminder of her heritage, but many of her neighbors who opposed the display say they are going to protest in front of her house.

Annie Chambers Caddell moved into a historically black neighborhood in Summerville in June and started flying the flag about a month later. Now, neighbors are planning to march Saturday along the street in front of her house. More than 200 residents have signed a protest petition. But Caddell says she won't be home. She's heading to the wedding of a friend, who is black. She insists that she is not racist.

One neighbor, James Patterson, said he knows Caddell has a right to fly the flag. But he says such a display is insensitive.
