Tide defense to focus on forcing Tenn. turnovers

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. The Alabama football team practiced for two hours in full pads at the Thomas-Drew Practice Field Tuesday afternoon in preparation for Saturday's matchup against the Tennessee Volunteers at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville.

"Alabama and Tennessee is a really big rivalry game," sophomore linebacker Dont'a Hightower said. "I'm sure they are pretty pumped up about it, just like we are. You can throw all the records and stats out the window in any SEC game, they don't really matter."

The Crimson Tide defense will continue to focus on forcing turnovers this weekend. Alabama leads the conference and is 10th in the nation in turnover margin, with a +1.00 average turnover margin.

"It is something we pride ourselves on," Hightower said about forcing turnovers. "It has especially helped us out in the red zone this year. Causing turnovers helps our offense and it helps us out as well."

The Crimson Tide will hold two final practices on Wednesday and Thursday before flying to Knoxville on Friday. No. 7 Alabama will take on Tennessee Saturday at 6 p.m. The game will be nationally televised by ESPN with Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge and Holly Rowe calling the action.
