Tigers play host to Tennessee in Thursday soccer match

AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn soccer team begins the closing stretch of the regular season on Thursday night when it plays host to Tennessee at 7pm CT at the Auburn Soccer Complex. Auburn enters the match 9-5-2, 3-3-2 SEC, tied for second in the SEC West.

"The West is wide open right now," Auburn Head Coach Karen Hoppa said. "With three games left, I think any of the top four teams in the division can still win it. It will be a fun three-game stretch to see how things shake out."

Auburn stands one point behind division-leading LSU (6-6-4, 3-2-3 SEC), is tied with Alabama (8-5-2, 3-3-2 SEC) and is three points ahead of Arkansas (5-8-3, 2-4-2 SEC) heading into Thursday night's action.

In the Eastern Division, Tennessee (7-8-1, 4-3-1 SEC) sits in fourth behind South Carolina (12-3-2, 6-1-1 SEC), Florida (12-2-2, 6-1-1 SEC) and Auburn's Sunday opponent Georgia (9-3-4, 4-1-3 SEC).

"Tennessee is one of those teams that is so dangerous in attack," Hoppa said. "Then we go to Georgia and that rivalry is huge. We have a lot of Georgia players on our team and that is probably our second-biggest rivalry game to Alabama."

Thursday night's match features the Student Tailgate Challenge in which Auburn student organizations will compete in a tailgating competition to win spirit points, an Auburn pop-up tent and a gas grill.
