Men posing as federal agents kill man in Prichard

PRICHARD, Ala. (AP) - Police say three men posing as federal agents kicked their way inside a Prichard home, fatally shot one man and held four others at gunpoint.

Prichard spokeswoman Latoya Veal identified the victim of Wednesday's early morning attack as 31-year-old Taurus Terrell Russell. He was shot once in the torso and pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else in the home was injured.

The Mobile Press-Register reports that the attackers posed as agents for the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives. They searched the home for money and left with a television.

Police are still searching for the suspects. Veal said investigators do not believe the victim was randomly targeted, but would not explain why.
