NWS expecting warm, dry winter in Alabama

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The National Weather Service says a La Nina pattern developing in the equatorial Pacific, will bring drier and warmer than normal conditions to Alabama through February.

Mary Keiser, a meteorologist with the NWS office in Birmingham, says fronts will continue to pass through the region that will bring some rain. But she says the La Nina pattern developing in the equatorial Pacific will produce fewer opportunities for significant rainfall.

She says bouts of cold weather can be expected, but temperatures will average above normal.

The latest drought monitor report shows all of the state is experiencing some form of drought.
