MONTGOMERY, AL - The first of two Susan Carberry Cake Decorating Classes at Southern Homes & Gardens on the Wetumpka Highway was deemed a 'Haunting' success by students from as far away as South Carolina. Other class members came from Florida and Mobile, AL to study with the winner of national cake decorating awards.
Beginning with a cookie, students first created a 3-D pumpkin into which the cookie was placed and filled with candy corn. Bursting from the top of the pumpkin was a whimsical ghost, complete with bulging eyes, lolling red tongue and surrounded by worms with water boiling out of the pumpkin and candy corn.
The pumpkin was based on a round cake disc covered with green grass and surrounded by more worms, water flames and candy corn. Hovering behind the ghost was a sign reading "What's Brewing?".
Carberry will also teach a two day class Monday and Tuesday, November 1st and 2nd at the Wetumpka Highway location when students will create a two-three tier cake decorated with garden critters.
