BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Republican Robert Bentley is predicting the GOP will win control of the Legislature in Tuesday's election and end 136 years of Democratic dominance.
Democrat Ron Sparks says Tuesday's election for governor is Alabama's last chance to have an education lottery.
The two appeared Monday morning at separate rallies in Birmingham, Bentley with about 40 supporters and signs waving. Sparks had only a few on hand and no signs.
Sparks said if he is defeated, no other candidate will have the courage to propose lottery scholarships again.
Bentley said if Republicans do take control of the Legislature from Democrats, he is determined the GOP will not be vindictive.
