Auburn's success reaches far beyond football field

AUBURN, AL (WSFA) - Auburn fans will tell you it's always great to be an Auburn Tiger. Auburn's football team has been putting up big numbers on the field, but their success is reaching far beyond the playing field.

The Tigers have helped businesses like J&M post big numbers in their books.

Owner Trey Johnston says his business has "tripled" this season compared to last. In fact, he's having a hard time keeping merchandise on the shelves.

"Last year they would ask 'how much is this' and walk out. This year they ask and say I'll take three."

It's not just businesses cashing in. Every time they sell an item with an official seal on it, the university gets money. In fact, since 2005 Auburn has given out more than 10 million dollars in scholarships because of these sales.

Fans say the experience is priceless. They just hope the Tigers don't get too relaxed on the field.

As for Auburn dropping to #2 in the BCS ranking, fans didn't mind that either. They say #2 has been good all year.
