Missing Enterprise boy found walking in ditch

ENTERPRISE, AL (WSFA) - An Enterprise family is relieved today after a missing 8-year-old boy was found safe hours after he disappeared from the family home. The child was not identified.

The Enterprise Police Department received a call at 4:00pm Thursday from the boy's mother. She said her son had been missing from their Hunter Ridge Sub-division home for around 30 minutes.

Officers with the Enterprise Police Department responded to the home and began searching for the child. Help from the Coffee County Sheriff's Department was requested and so was the assistance of the Dale County Sheriff's Department's helicopter. Event the Enterprise Rescue Squad and officers with the Alabama Department of Game and Fish responded.

Two hours after the ordeal started a resident in Hunter Ridge called to say she had seen a boy walking along highway 167.  Enterprise P.D. Investigators Darrell Griswold and Kyle Hale located the boy, who was walking in a ditch near highway 167 approximately 3 miles from his home.
