AU's Pugh gets acedemic recognition

AUBURN – Senior offensive lineman Ryan Pugh has been named to the
ESPN Academic All-District IV Football First Team, the College Sports
Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday. By virtue
of being named to the All-District First Team, Pugh is now eligible for
the Academic All-America Team.

Pugh, a native of Hoover, Ala, is a building sciences major who carries
a 3.49 grade-point average. He was named to the Academic All-District
Second Team following the 2009 season, and is a two-time Southeastern
Conference Academic Honor Roll selectee and a three-time Academic Top
Tiger. He was named a finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award
earlier this season.

On the field, Pugh has started 40 games for the Tigers during his
career, including all 34 games at center over the past three seasons. He
was named a midseason first-team All-American by Phil Steele and
second-team All-American by SportsIllustrated.com this season, and was
named to the watch lists for the Lombardi Award and Rimington Trophy.

To be eligible for the ESPN Academic All-District Team, a
student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a
3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current
institution.
