UA women's basketball game scheduled for exhibition game

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball team will play its lone exhibition contest on Saturday, Nov. 6, when it hosts the University of Alabama in Huntsville. The opening tip is slated for Noon CT in Coleman Coliseum, and admission is free.

"We are all really excited about watching this team play in a game-type situation," Alabama head coach Wendell Hudson said. "We have 13 players that are all still in the mix for our lineup, which is a good thing. There are a lot of combinations we are going to try to see what works best. The talent level of this team is what we want to be at."
Saturday's game marks the seventh meeting between the two schools, however it is the first in the series since Jan. 9, 1986. The Crimson Tide has won all previous meetings by an average of 27 points.
Alabama will have a fresh look as it enters the 2010-10 season with nearly half of its roster being new. The Tide returns seven letterwinners from a year ago and welcomes six newcomers, with four freshmen and two transfers. Amongst Alabama's returnees are the bulk of its statistical leaders from a year ago including senior Tierney Jenkins, who led the team in points and rebounds. The Tide' s rookie class ranked ninth in the nation according to ESPNU HoopGurlz, which was the highest ranking in the Southeastern Conference.
Saturday's game will be the second exhibition of the season against a Division I opponent for UAH as the Chargers took on Florida State on Oct. 24. The Seminoles dominated the Chargers winning 122-58 in Tallahassee. UAH was led on offense by freshmen Jasmine Hammon and Janie Graves who contributed 17 points and 10 points, respectively. As a whole, the Charger roster is young with nine freshmen. The team finished last season with a 4-20 record.
Season tickets for regular season games are currently on sale for $40 for the general public and $25 for University of Alabama faculty and staff. Single-game tickets will go on sale Nov. 1 at the cost of $5 for adults and $3 for youth 18 and under.
