Victims identified in fatal Troy industrial accident

TROY, AL (WSFA) - Troy Police are releasing the names of the employees involved in Monday's fatal industrial accident on the property of KW Plastics.

Chief Anthony Everage confirmed Rodney Williams, 35, died after a truck ran over him. Another employee, Elmer Gene Fleming, 59, was transported to Troy Regional Medical Center's emergency room and then airlifted to Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery. The extent of Fleming's injuries are not currently known.

The driver of the vehicle is also a KW Plastics employee, though that person's identity has not yet been released.

Troy Police Department spokesman Sgt. Benny Scarbrough said his department was notified around 12:20 Monday afternoon that the two individuals were struck by a vehicle.

Sgt. Scarbrough confirmed that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been notified. Troy police investigators continue their own investigation.

KW Plastics is a plastics recycling center heaquartered in Troy. It was formed in 1981.
