JACKSON, Miss. - Jackson State University has formally reprimanded head football coach Rick Comegy for what it called inappropriate comments after Saturday's 32-30 loss to Alabama State University in Montgomery, according to an Associated Press report.
Immediately following the game, Comegy, who previously coached at Tuskegee University, told the JSU radio broadcast in a live interview: "They (expletive) cheated."
JSU athletics director Bob Braddy said in a statement Tuesday that the school does not approve of "such unsportsmanlike behavior." The school said Comegy later apologized for his remarks during interviews with Jackson State's radio station and TV station.
The Southwestern Athletic Conference may announce further sanctions against Comegy.
